“… to whom honor is due…”

The apostle Paul reminds us in that we have a responsibility to give honor to those who deserve it. By doing this, we show our appreciation and humility – like Jesus Himself did.

Honor to God

The first place to start in giving honor is to God. We are to honor Him above all others. Without Him we would have nothing and be nothing. Only through Him can we get through this life He’s given us. We need to honor Him with the time we spend. We need to honor Him with the words we speak. We need to honor Him with the resources we have. Everything we do should be for His honor. Paul might call this our “reasonable act of worship.”

Honor to Those Who Serve

Another place we can give honor is to those who serve the Lord through our local church. (That’s not to say we don’t honor those who serve outside the church, but…) When it’s all said and done, God’s message for the redemption of the world rests in His children’s hands. God has chosen to use people to be His instruments. He could have used anything He wanted, but He chose us. We have so many people in our church that serve faithfully week in and week out. There are so many others that rise up on special occasions. We are blessed by those who give of themselves to the work of the ministry. To those we must give honor.

Honor Moms

“Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her: ‘There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!’” (Proverbs 31:28-29)
Take extra time to be a blessing to your mom. Maybe this is a week to give an extra call, write a note, say an extra prayer for her. Maybe this is week to work on a broken relationship. Or maybe this is just a good week to remember.
